Moisture Resistant MDF also known as MR MDF sheeting is a uniquely designed, engineered wood product suitable for humid conditions. Unlike our standard premium Medite MDF, this green-coloured board is usable in more environments than its counterpart. MR MDF is specially produced with a moisture-repellent resin, making these panels perfect for demanding applications in which MDF alone could not perform as well.

MDF, or Medium Density Fibreboard, is an engineered wood product. To create an MDF board, softwood fibres are broken down and combined with durable wax or resin to bind them together, which creates an exceptionally strong wooden panel. MDF is also lighter than comparable wooden sheets, making it easier to fit and handle.
A moisture-repellent resin is chosen for this mix to ensure the wood board does not warp or split in the presence of humidity or in damp environments. MR MDF is a pleasure to work with, so cutting, sanding, or customising a moisture resistant MDF board is a breeze with simple tools and some time. However, we recommend using appropriate face and eye protection when working with MR MDF, as the sawdust and particles released during the process can act as irritants. MR MDF boards should be cut in large, well-ventilated spaces, and a respirator needs to be worn during the process.
When using MDF in its raw state, it is best to seal the exposed edges with primer to maintain the moisture-repellent resin for longer and ensure the material’s longevity.
Properties of Moisture Resistant MDF Sheeting
Our made to measure MR MDF panels are available in a range of thicknesses, from thin 6mm boards to thick, 25mm wood sheets. We offer full-sized panels, cut to size moisture resistant pieces, and shapes. The maximum sheet size available is 2440 mm by 1220 mm.
MR MDF can be effortlessly and securely glued, dowelled, or fixed with screws, as it does not split easily. You can fit a moisture resistant MDF board yourself with minimal tools and effort. MDF is easy to screw and does not bend or crack, provided a sufficient distance from the edge is chosen, and appropriate pilot holes are drilled beforehand.
Our cut to size, moisture resistant MDF sheeting is FSC® Certified, CE Marked, and manufactured to BS - EN622-5 – E1 Formaldehyde emission. The cut to size MR MDF boards we supply are sustainably sourced, so you can enjoy an affordable, dependable wood product, knowing the environment was not harmed by its production.
Cut to size MR MDF panels are moisture resistant but not watertight, so they should be used in humid conditions indoors but not outside. We recommend additional sealing of the board.
